Bible Study is an informal, hour-long meeting held on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. from September through May. We select a book of the Bible to study, read through it together, and discuss it. In addition, we share our life experiences. All are welcome to join us.
The Evangelism Committee’s purpose is simple. We seek to get the word out about Emmanuel. Dedicated to reaching out to the community, we sponsor T-ball teams, and host regular events such as Fish Fries and Spaghetti Dinners. We participate in special events as well. Each August we serve beverages to participants and volunteers at the Valley City Frog Jump.
Knitting & Crocheting Group
Knitting & Crocheting Group is an informal meeting, open to everyone, where we knit, crochet, and chat. There’s no particular skill level required. In fact, those who are more experienced often end up sharing a few things. Knitting group meets on Mondays at 7pm.
Named for the story of Mary and Martha in the bible, Martha’s Circle is a place for the women of Emmanuel to gather together and enjoy fellowship. We meet at the church or at various restaurants, take in local entertainment, and occasionally have a guest speaker. We’re specifically designed as an evening meeting so that all women can attend. We meet at 6:30 pm on the first Thursday of every month.
Men’s Breakfast is a casual gathering of members and friends of Emmanuel held on the first Thursday of each month at 8:30 am. We don’t just chew our breakfast; we chew the fat as well, and occasionally take on some small projects for the church. On even numbered months we gather at Knott’s Family Diner and on odd months it is Copper Top at Cherokee Hills. Reminders are in the church bulletin and sent by email.
Emmanuel is happy to be a partner of Operation H.O.M.E.S., a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the homeless of Medina County, Ohio. Sunday School is available during the 10 A.M. worship service for children ages 3-Jr. High. Older children have a more formal study (this year, it’s the New Testament), and the younger children stay busy making crafts that coordinate with the lesson. In addition, a nursery is available for the parents of babies/ toddlers in which the service can be heard via a sound system.
Women’s Fellowship is a group, open to all women, that gathers the first Wednesday of every month for a potluck lunch and fellowship. Most months we meet at noon in Fellowship Hall. However a few times a year we venture out to enjoy a meal at one of the local establishments. As we are able, we assist with various ministries of the church, especially Life Celebration Luncheons.
